fix

The Update button could go missing, hiding every fix we shipped

If you duplicated a theme, sections stopped offering updates — silently and permanently. The button is back, and it is now always available.

If you ever duplicated your theme and published the copy, Modulo could quietly lose track of which version of a section you had. When that happened the Update to latest option disappeared from the section's theme menu, and it never came back.

Nothing on screen explained it. The section still showed as installed, everything looked normal, and the app simply stopped telling you that newer versions existed. Every fix and improvement we released after that point was invisible to your store, and there was no way to pull one in.

This is fixed in three ways:

  • The update option is always there now. On any installed section you will see either Update to latest when we know a newer version exists, or Re-apply latest version when we are not sure. Either one pushes the current version to your theme, so you are never stuck without a route to a fix.
  • Duplicating a theme no longer loses your version. When Modulo finds one of its sections on a theme it has not seen before, it now carries the version across instead of forgetting it.
  • Existing stores have been repaired. We went back through the records and restored the version for affected sections, so the Update available badge works again without you doing anything.

Your settings are kept in all cases. Section setting values are stored by Shopify separately from the section file we replace, so updating or re-applying a section never resets how you have configured it.

If you have been waiting on a fix that never seemed to arrive, open Sections in the app and check your installed sections. There may be updates waiting that you could not see before.
