Section 01What cookies Modulo sets.
Modulo sets cookies in three places, and only three:
- App admin at app.runmodulo.com: a single session cookie issued by Shopify App Bridge. It authenticates the embedded app session and ties the admin UI to the Shopify shop you are logged into. It is strictly necessary for the app to function. Lifetime: session.
- Storefront sections and blocks: no cookies set by Modulo. The storefront integration runs as native Liquid sections injected through Shopify's theme system. No fingerprinting, no tracking, no third-party scripts. If a cookie appears on your storefront after installing Modulo, it was set by your theme or by another app, not by me.
- Marketing site at runmodulo.com: one first-party analytics cookie set by Plausible Analytics. Plausible counts unique daily visitors without cross-site tracking, without device fingerprinting, and without sharing data with advertisers. Lifetime: 24 hours.
Section 02Why these cookies are necessary.
The App Bridge session cookie is required for any embedded Shopify app, including Modulo, because Shopify uses it to verify the session token on every admin request.
The Plausible cookie supports the legitimate interest of understanding traffic patterns on the marketing site without building shopper profiles or sharing data with third parties. There are no advertising cookies, no remarketing cookies, and no cookies that would persist a profile across other sites you visit.
Section 03Opt-out and contact.
The App Bridge cookie cannot be disabled without breaking the app. If you do not want it set, do not install Modulo.
The Plausible cookie can be blocked at the browser level using any standard tracking-prevention setting, ad blocker, or browser privacy mode. Blocking it has no effect on the app's behavior.
