Product Frame — cart drawer, or no buy button at all
Add to cart can now open your theme's cart drawer instead of the cart page — or you can hide the buy button entirely and run Product Frame as a browse-only grid.
Product Frame's Add to cart has always been a real product form, so clicking it
submitted the page and landed the shopper on /cart. That is still the default,
and nothing changes for an existing section.
There is now a second choice under Buy button → After adding to cart:
- Go to the cart page — what the section has always done.
- Stay here and open the cart drawer — the item is added in the background, and your theme is asked to open its cart drawer.
It works from the card button, from the size chips, and from inside quick view. Themes without a cart drawer stay on the page with the cart count updated rather than jumping away.
A note on how it behaves when things go wrong: if the browser has JavaScript turned off, or a script is still loading, the button falls back to the original full-page add. It never becomes a control that does nothing.
Shopify's own Buy now button is unaffected — it goes straight to checkout by design, and no theme or app can change that.
Hiding the button
Buy button → Show the button has a third choice: Never — browse only.
The card becomes a photo that links to the product page, with no buy control on it at all. Sold-out products still show their label, because that is a fact about the product rather than an offer — and when one of them is in the row, the strip under every photo stays reserved so all your cards keep the same height. When nothing in the row is sold out, that strip collapses and the photo gets the space back.
Quick view is unaffected, so Never plus quick view gives you a clean grid that can still sell.
